Looking for the perfect Autumnal dessert to impress your dinner guests? Here is our quick and easy Apple & Blackberry Crumble recipe with cinnamon anglais!

Serves 4



·         1kg Cooking Apples

·         300g Blackberries

·         200g Sugar

·         Juice Of ½ Lemon

·         1 Tbsp Of Apple Juice Or Water

·         1 Vanilla Pod (Optional)

·         100g Plain Flour

·         75g Butter

·         50g Rolled Oats

·         100g Demerara Sugar

Cinnamon Anglais

·         8 Egg Yolks  

·         150g Sugar  

·         1 Pint Milk

·         1 Pint Cream

·         1 Cinnamon Stick

Method for Apple and Blackberry Compote: Preheat oven to 200’C Peel the apples, cut into quarters and remove the cores. Slice each piece into two, put them in a pan with sugar, lemon juice and apple juice/water. Split the vanilla pod and add to the apples if using

Cook over a medium heat until the apples soften (about 5 minutes), then add the blackberries Transfer the mixture to a shallow, ovenproof dish Blend the flour and the butter in a food processor until the mixture looks like breadcrumbs (about 30 seconds) Stir in the oats and brown sugar then sprinkle over the apple and blackberry mixture. Bake until golden brown (about 30 minutes) 

Method for Cinnamon Anglais: Pour the milk and cream into a pan, then add the cinnamon stick. Bring to the boil Whisk egg yolks and sugar together Slowly pour the cream mixture over the egg yolks and sugar, whisking all the time Transfer the mixture back to the pan Cook on a low heat, stirring continuously until the mixture is thick enough to coat the back of a spoon.
