Q. Can I book a table at the cafe?

A. We don’t take reservations and instead follow a first come, first served policy. At busy times you can put your name on our waiting list for the next available table, then pop out for a drink while you wait.

Q. Are children welcome?

A. Children of all ages are welcome at the cafe.

Q. Do you have a children’s menu?

A. We don’t have a separate menu for children but we can do some of our dishes in a children’s size such as the cheeseburger and the fish & chips.

Q. Can we bring our own wine?

A. No, we are fully licensed and serve a wide range of wine, hand-pull beer and spirits.

Q. Do you have vegetarian options?

A. Yes, we always try to have at least 4 - 5 vegetarian options on the menu and since everything is cooked to order, dishes can be adapted to suit dietary requirements.

Q. Are you open on bank holidays?

A. Yes, we are open every day of the year except Christmas Day & Boxing Day.

Q. Can you accommodate large groups?

A. Although we don’t take bookings, with a bit of advance warning and some flexibility on your part, we can usually fit in large parties up to 18 people. Early evening is a good time for large groups, otherwise it means putting your name on the waiting list.

Q. Can we bring our own birthday cake?

A. Yes, we have no problem with customers bringing in their own cake to celebrate birthdays. We can also offer candles to go into any of the desserts we serve.

Q. Can you do food to take-away?

A. Most dishes can be served to take-away, with crockery (such as pie-pots) being the only obstacle.

Q. Is your food suitable for pregnant women?

A. Yes, all the cheese we use is pasteurized and since dishes are cooked to order, most ingredients can be omitted or substituted.

Q. Do you have a customer car park?

A. While we don’t have our own car park, Ashgate Road (opposite the cafe) has a lot of parking spaces which are free in the evening.

Q. Do we need to order food & drinks at the bar?

A. No, we are more than happy to take your order at the table but you are more than welcome to wander up to the bar to order or pay your bill.

Q. When is the garden open?

A. The cafe garden is usually open April to October but is entirely weather dependent.

Q. The opening times say you are open until 9:30 most evenings - is this when customers must vacate the building?

A. No, this is simply the time in which last orders for main courses must be made by.
